Describe your collection
The CPA Library collection covers the subject areas of management, business, finance, statistics, accounting, auditing, taxation, economics, information technology, law, marketing and superannuation. It contains books; audio-visual material, including DVDs, CDROMS, video and audio tapes; journals; newspapers; loose-leaf services; conference papers; annual reports; accounting and auditing standards, both Australian and international; and reference material. CPA Library members are also able to access thousands of full text publication titles through various online services.

What’s unique about your collection?
The CPA Library is the largest accounting library in the Southern Hemisphere, and the third largest in the world. The collection contains historically significant material: the Melbourne branch is home to the archives of CPA Australia and its antecedent bodies, the earliest of which dates back to 1885. Among the great number of journal titles the library holds are some of the most complete sets within Australia.
Who are your clients/patrons?
The library’s clients are predominately members of CPA Australia, but students may also register for a CPA passport and pay for a library card. For a fee, non-CPA members can organise inter-library loans through their institutional library.
Do you have archival material?
The Melbourne branch of the CPA Library contains the archives of CPA Australia. Dating back to 1885, the archival material is historically important, as it reflects the shifting nature of the accountancy profession, and the business, economic and cultural conditions of former eras.
How do your clients/customers use your library and what services do you provide?
The CPA Library provides research services, inter-library loans, user education, ‘Ask an information expert’ service. Some members come in daily, majority use the internet, email & phone
