What’s great about your job?
I don’t get bored because there are lots of different things to do using a range of skills every day.
What’s the most fun experience you’ve had at work?
Working with a group to create the Library research skills online tutorial.
Describe a typical day at work.
My typical day could include working on the information desk helping students to research for their assignments, teaching groups of students in the labs or lecture rooms on how to research using Library resources such as electronic databases and e-books, meeting with a lecturer or ordering some books for the Library. I might even have time to do some work on creating a webpage for the Library website, work on an online interactive tutorial or communicate on a work blog.
What do you find rewarding and challenging about you job?
Working with all the students is the best part of the job and I like the challenge of keeping up with what the lecturers are teaching and with all the new technology.
What are the personal skills & attributes that you need to do this job?
You need to relate well to people, be able to work in a team and be able to teach others. It helps to have good computer skills, enjoy learning and be curious about the world.
