What’s great about your job?
The interaction with staff and students is great. Providing the resources they need is really rewarding.

What’s the most fun experience you’ve had at work?
Listening to students debate a book they have read in the reading area is always fun.

Describe a typical day at work.
Check which sections of the library are booked (i.e. research areas, reading area, and video room). Check what is happening that day in the school (i.e. assemblies, etc.). Work at the circulation desk for some sessions, helping staff and students with their research, creating subject weblinks and topic boxes if they are needed, loaning and returning books, and reading shelves. When I’m not at the circulation desk I am in the staff room usually cataloguing or creating subject weblinks.

What do you find rewarding and challenging about you job?
Helping students and staff is rewarding. Keeping up with emerging ICTs (Information and Communication Technology) is challenging and rewarding. It is rewarding when I can use the ICT for teaching and learning and show others how to as well.

What are the personal skills & attributes that you need to do this job?
‘People’ skills - you need to be able to collaborate with staff, work as part of a team, and communicate with students. It also it helps to love books.
