I have also worked in other government libraries.
 
What’s great about your job?
Dealing with so many wonderful people in the Parliamentary Library – staff and clients and also working so many terrific colleagues around Australia and the world.
 
What’s the most fun experience you’ve had at work?
Being able to have ideas and follow them through to implementation.
 
Describe a typical day at work.
Too many meetings, many conversations with other library staff and Department of Parliamentary Library staff and a bit of panic in the evening about what I haven’t done.
 
What do you find rewarding and challenging about you job?
The difference that the Library makes to the Australian parliament and the nation – through making information and analysis available that significantly contribute to national and parliamentary debate. We do indeed contribute to our continuing democracy in many ways.
 
What are the personal skills & attributes that you need to do this job?
I think to enjoy working with others, be able to communicate well (and constantly) and persistence through challenging times.
