How?
Simple. Design a postcard promoting careers in libraries. That sounds easy. What sort of postcard?
We need a card that's like an avant card - those free advertising postcards you see everywhere. They have pictures and information on both the back and front, are sized about 10 cm by 15 cm, and are colourful and eye-catching. You can see what these kinds of cards look like here.
What should it say?
You just design the front and back of the postcard with the title "Destination Library" and a great picture or design. The back of the card will say:
"For information about working in libraries go to: http://destinationlibrary.pbwiki.com/."
We will add the ALIA logo. Your name will be acknowledged on the back of the card as well.
What's it going to be used for?
The winning card is going to be printed and distributed across Australia to let people know about the destination library site and help showcase the great careers in the library industry.
That's all you need to know. You can use Photoshop, Illustrator, Gimp, Quark, any software - just make sure you include 2mm bleed and trim marks, that your images are at least 300dpi and that you save your final design as a PDF. Copyright of your postcard will belong to ALIA (Australian Library Information Association) so that we may use the whole or part of your image in a variety of print and/or online media. So if you use images that you didn’t create, you need to either use images licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution licence or obtain written permission from the copyright owner to use them. Use the Creative Commons Attribution search on Flickr to find images that are OK to use. Just don’t forget to note down the name of the person who licensed the image.
Who can enter?
Anyone. You don't have to be working in the library industry. We are looking for entries from talented people with creative ideas for our card.

Email it as a PDF attachment by Friday March 20th, 2009 to: learning@slv.vic.gov.au
Title your email ‘Subject’ “Destination Library competition”. The winner will be contacted by email.
