Library Assistant
Library assistants assist and support qualified library technicians and librarians.
A typical day for a library assistant may involve:
- issue library cards to library patrons;
- work at the circulation desk, lending and receiving library-owned material;
- inspect returned material for damage;
- repair damaged books, magazines, etc.;
- sort and shelve material;
Library assistants receive most of their training on the job. No formal education is required, although familiarity with computers is expected.
